Elk (Cervus canadensis) grazing green field in Alaska.

Myth’s and folklore revolving around the majestic elk have been in existence since Native Americans ruled; but something equally as magic and not originated around a camp fire, but rather in a lab, are about their horns. Antlers grow faster than any other type of bone; this rapid cell growth has been being studied by biologists to help understand the process and apply it to cures for various forms of cancer.

The mythology may be about Elk-like deities and magic; but turns out, there may be some real-life magic in their antlers after all.
