Elk (Cervus canadensis) grazing green field in Alaska.

Myth’s and folklore revolving around the majestic elk have been in existence since Native Americans ruled; but something equally as magic and not originated around a camp fire, but rather in a lab, are about their horns. Antlers grow faster than any other type of bone; this rapid cell growth has been being studied by biologists to help understand the process and apply it to cures for various forms of cancer.
